Global Warming:Math

In global warming, there are many significant usage of numbers that emphasize the degrading state of the Earth. For example, the sea ice minimum in the Arctic used to be at 6.4 million square kilometers in 1979 but now in 2007, the sea ice has decreased to 3.7 million square kilometers. This change happened on only 28 years and if this rate is allowed to continue, by 2035 the sea ice levels will have reduced to about 1.28 million square kilometers. Imagine a world rid of polar bears by 2040. Also, in the last century, the ocean level has risen by 5-6 inches due to the melting of the ice caps and if global warming is not deteriorated soon the rate of ocean level rise will at least double and maybe even triple. These facts, like many others, are main math related points in global warming.
